Student data privacy

Foundry is a career-exploration app for students 16 and older. When your district provides it, this is how we handle student data.

FERPA

We sign a student data privacy agreement with your district before we issue any access codes. Under it, Foundry acts as a school official with a legitimate educational interest, under your district's direct control. We use student records only to run Foundry for your students, and share them only as the agreement allows, including with the adults each student chooses.

Colorado law

Foundry is a school service contract provider under the Student Data Transparency and Security Act (C.R.S. 22-16).

  • We never sell student data or use it for advertising.
  • We never build student profiles beyond what your agreement authorizes.
  • We give you a plain-language list of every data element we collect, why, and who processes it, for you to post.
  • We tell you as soon as possible if student data is ever disclosed without authorization, and we delete it when the agreement ends.

What we receive from you

Names and school email addresses. Nothing from grades, attendance or discipline records.

Students control sharing: no adult sees anything until the student adds them, and the student can turn off any part, any time. Parents and guardians keep their right to review and correct records through the school.

Bring Foundry to your school.

A short demo for your counselors and administrators, then per-student licenses for one or two academic years.
